Children to talk about the idea of a summer job
Last week, I told the story of the first part of inspiration for 10-year-old Amanda Cox, who created a board game called Pandarama, to raise funds to protect the giant panda at the National Zoo Fund.
A helping hand from her mother, Melynda (a former Kiplinger colleagues), Amanda is able to produce and sell the game to friends and family. What started as summer jobs for 14 year olds lessons in entrepreneurship.
However, Amanda did not expect (and Melynda) know how the project will be successful and the game will take an unexpected distortions.
45 U.S. dollars to pay Melynda copyright Pandarama, but she does not want to pay 325 U.S. dollars of trade mark registration, because she may lose interest in finding Amanda .
What she did not calculate the Pandarama is selected in the Washington Post. An immediate increase in sales. Her mother decided to continue with the trademark - only child has just been found to apply to the trade name “Pandarama” toy, which is under development.

Hasbro to answer in a few weeks, made an agreement so that the limited production of the right to Amanda Pandarama up to 500 per year. Hasbro has also expressed its willingness to contribute to the fund giant pandas. Wilcoxes the proposed 5000 U.S. dollars.
Hasbro agreed that everyone is satisfied. “This money is so important to see that Amanda was, the problem can be resolved fruitful said,” her mother. “She just wanted to keep her game.”
Not every entrepreneurial venture will get this far. However, all children need the basic inputs, their parents, even if it only suggests how bored 11 - and 12-year-old can make money over the summer.
